Sexual Purity Part 1

Pastor Stan
Sexual Purity (Part 1)
Tonight we receive a powerful word from the Lord from Pastor Stan about sexual purity. We first in our grand discussion we must consider the various definitions we receive from society about what sexual purity is and what is our own personal opinions. Look at the definitions below and see which one is closet to your definition or come up with one of your own.

Sexual purity definition?
·      Waiting to marriage to have sex
·      Courting- a set structure that leads to marriage instead of pointless dating
·      Refraining from any lustful act or thought that corrupts the body, heart, and mind,
·      Refraining from anything that exploits the body to want to have sex
·      Abstinence-abstaining from anything that leads you down the path of having sex
·      Abstaining from sexual immorality not just in act, but also in thought

Afterwards Pastor Stan gives us his definition of sexual purity.

Sexual purity is having sexual intercourse with only your husband or wife.

Do you realize the difference?
So many times in life we learn about what sex is from our friends, and family, we learn what we cannot do with sex and how fornication is a sin. However we never discuss about what sexual purity is and how to learn and understand what something is we cannot only examine what it is not.

Christianity is not all about having rules. It is not about living our lives inside a box God intended for us to have freedom and to not be bounded by the rules of the law. For the world sees us as having these rules and regulations as a negative but God gives us these rules as a positive, because it is for our protection. As members of the body of Christ we must have a balance of rules and freedom.

God’s plan/purposes for sex
·      God’s intent is for us to have sex
·      Sexual purity is set us up for us to have sex
·      God never designed for women and men to not have sex
·      God wants us to abstain up into marriage
·      Abstinence is the first step moving us towards sexual intercourse

This is the original plan for sex. The plan where sex was to give us pleasure and the overall purpose was for God to get the glory. Birthing children, multiplies the many mouths and hands giving God glory. Sexual purity is not about being the holiest of saints, it is not about being lame, its about using your body as an instrument for another form of worship.

Sadly as sinned entered our world it misconstrued the definition of sexual purity. Sexual death has become a disease in our society. As Satan develops counterfeits or imitations of love that hinders us from knowing the love of Christ. Additionally he has created devices or barriers impacting our sexual purity, impacting our views about sex, and our relationships with the opposite sex.

What hinders/impacts people’s sexual purity?
·      TV (Love and Hip Hop) (Bachelor)
·      Friends (what advice do they give) (peer pressure)
·      Church (what does/does not the church about sex? Does it match what the bible says)
·      Music (What are the lyrics saying about sex? How much do you listen to it?)
·      School (school atmosphere)
·      Books (fifty shades of grey, be careful with what you read)
·      Internet (porn, music videos)
·      Social Media (who do you lurk; follow)
·      The opposite sex (what kind of people influence you)
·      Parents (what do your parents say about sex)
·      Dressà In pornography what gets people attention is the design or the fact that there is no clothes or full frontal nudity. The way we dress sends a message. Pornography is only popular out the world because they are open and bare in society. The way we dress, our appearance sends a message about who we are as an individual. The message always starts before we open our mouth.

Let's Read What the Bible Says About SEXual Purity

1 Corinthians 7:1-3
New King James Version (NKJV)

·      Principles of Marriage
Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me:
It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband.

In the church of Corinthian a church where everything was wrong with them. Paul is now addressing the sexual immorality in the church and how we as Christians must act. Paul knows human nature and what causes our emotions to boil and arise. Being sexual and having sexual feelings is normal and that is how God created us. But we must understand what affects us is our perception: What we think depends upon what we see. Telling the people of Corinthian to marry is for their safety because we are all guilty of a wondering eye and God sees our sins taking root in our hearts.
Verse 1-2: The best definition of sexual purity. Paul teaches us the foundations to have sex, let every woman have her own husband, because in society we have individuals where same sex is allowed. The problem is that they are always in relationship roles there will never be a relationship that is not indoctrinated into gender roles, no matter what homosexual roles they make, there will be a male and female role. Notice the key role here is “own” Paul lays the foundation that sexual intercourse should only occur between a husband and wife.

·      Genesis 1:28
New King James Version (NKJV)
28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Now God is giving male and female the ability to replenish the Earth through procreation.

Why are people not wiling to procreate? Does this generation believe in procreation? No.

People are aiming for one thing and one thing only: sexual gratification. Sex, sexual acts in deed or thought is about personal gratification. God does not have a problem with us having personal gratification. Sex was intentionally created to cause multiplication and sex is not a me-thing it is a God-thing. You cannot do what we just read and fulfill God if your aim is to simply please yourself. The value of sex in this society has brought down the standard and gift God has created for us to enjoy. People are not willing to procreate because it interferes with their sexual agenda.

College feeds into this sexual mentality because there is a fear of having a child and not being able to have a career. College in some ways pushes us to not want to multiply and into this self-gratification mindset, since we want all this stuff to gratify ourselves. God has set up a system for us to enjoy sex, so we can reap or produce the glory or results he determined.

Matthew 15:19
New King James Version (NKJV)
Christ says, 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

In order for us to have sexual purity we must have our hearts right first. It starts in what we allow our hearts to be growing in, and developed in.

Because everything starts with the heart.

Proverbs 4:23
New International Version (NIV) 23
Above all else, guard your heart,

for everything you do flows from it.

How To Overcome Temptation

How to Overcome Temptation
Teacher: Valencia Moses
Tonight we receive a glorious word of God from the speaker Valencia Moses you are no less than a Christian when you are tempted. When you go through temptation it does not mean you are a weak Christian, it is a temptation because it is tempting you in a weak area.

Always remember Satan tempts us to bring out the worst in us, but God tests us to bring out the best in us.

And as we talk and learn about temptation we need to think about what the Devil consists messes with us about? What is the sore spot Satan constantly picks on you about? Remember any temptation or any lie is an attempt from the Enemy to get us to not trust God. Temptation is the invitation sin is accepting that invitation. Recall any and everything is an object or person of influence. We must always keep this in mind because Satan uses our failures to make us feel guilty about our losses. Just like in Sports, the Michigan State Spartans (Go Green Go White), Pistons, Heat, good sport teams, players study their opposition. So the question is:
How well does the Enemy know you? And how well do you know you? How many times do you think something in your life is not a big deal and Satan says, “that's what you think?”

Allureà Remember a temptation is a temptation because it is something we like. It would not be a temptation to us if it did not attract us. So do not feel bad when you are tempted.
Alluringà Imagine a fish jumping out the water to catch a juicy looking worm but it is actually bait. It is an acceptance of counterfeit accepting the imitation of the world of Satan.

Let us break down temptation
Examples of temptation
v To quit (temptation always wants to make you give up on your God given path)
v To compromise (to let down your standards)
v To find the easy way out (not pushing yourself to the max)

All temptation falls into three categories
*    1 John 2:15-16:
·      lust of the flesh makes it about what you feel (emotions)
·      lust of the eyes makes it about what you see envy, jealous
·      pride of life makes it about what you think (thoughts)

So many times throughout the Bible and throughout our lives, we fall victim and choose to practice one of these three categories instead of trusting and believing in God. Satan always wants us to pay attention to what we want and declines from showing us the consequences. Too many times do we exalt our opinions and insights over what God says about the situation and circumstances we find ourselves in. Always want to be on a higher level it is crazy to the world to laugh when we face temptation but that should be our goal, which is to be overcomes and not intimidated.

There are only two answers to the invitation of temptation
§  Pleasing ourselvesà When a person says, “I don’t know what God wants me to do,” it is a cop out, because God is always available to bring us out the situation. When we choose to not know, we choose to fail and compromise ourselves when temptation comes along.
§  Pleasing Godà is an automatic win. Satan cannot beat God.
o   James 4:7à “Submit to God” you cannot beat the Devil on your own. Satan is stronger than you when you are not connected to God. It is only through Jesus Christ that we are able to overcome and resist Satan.

God tests us because He wants us to know where we stand. He wants to bring out the best for us and to be our best. We must understand we are bought with a price we are not mindless servants of God, no because those who have accepted Christ must recognize that we do not belong to us. Our lives are not our lives anymore and we must live for God.

We need to recognize
§  Satan is already defeated and misery loves company. He wants you to think this opportunity this chance is a once in a lifetime deal. Satan wants you to constantly think about you, your wants, feelings, and desires.
§  We have more power and authority in Christ than we realize.
§  The lust is temporary whatever temptation is temporary.
§  When we fail our temptation Satan will do a 180 and beat us up and make us feel guilty, when he was the one who baited us.
§  To never let your guard down (Ephesians 6)
